The trainees which are currently in training at various SAPS academies and at the SANDF’s base camp in Kimberley, arrived on 01 April 2022.
In attendance is the Minister of Police, General Bheki Cele, the Deputy Minister of Police, Mr Cassel Mathale and the National Commissioner of the SAPS, General Fannie Masemola.
Standing on parade at the Tshwane Academy are trainees from the SAPS Tshwane Academy and neighbouring academies which include Atteridgeville and Benoni SAPS Academy.
This is the first time in the history of the SAPS that the organisation has recruited trainees in excess of 5000.
The trainees are currently undergoing training at the SAPS academies for a period of 8 months. This phase is a combination of practical and theoretical training.
Once completed, the trainees will form part of a passing out parade which will be held at various academies in December 2022.
