KwaZulu-Natal: Suspect nabbed with five firearms

Operations to eradicate the proliferation and illegal use of firearms in the province continues on a high note.

This followed an intelligence driven operation conducted yesterday just after midnight by the police officers from a team tasked to stabilise crime in the province. The team proceeded to Enkanyezini, which falls under the Camperdown policing area, and conducted a search on an identified house. The police officers found three illegal firearms with 14 rounds of ammunition.

Police also seized two licensed firearms from the suspect for further investigation. The team placed the 44-year-old suspect under arrest for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition. Detectives will dispatch the recovered firearms for ballistic testing. The suspect is appearing before the Camperdown Magistrates Court today for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
