NELSPRUIT – A total of four suspects, aged between 22 and 39 are due to appear before the Bethal Magistrate’s Court today following their arrest by the police from Bethal SAPS on Sunday, 24 July 2022 for allegations of being in possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle.

Their arrest came after police were alerted by the security guards at Bethal Mall about a suspicious vehicle (white Chevrolet Avio) which was parked at the parking area.

The members responded swiftly to the complaint and on arrival at the scene, security members directed members to where the vehicle was parked. Inside the car, there were four occupants.

Upon further investigation police learned that the vehicle was reported stolen this month, July 2022 at Jeppe in Gauteng Province.

The four suspects were arrested and charged accordingly.

They will all appear before the Bethal Magistrate’s Court today facing a charge of possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle. More charges could be added against the suspects as the probe continues.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has appreciated the collaborative efforts displayed between members of the security officers and police. “We applaud the security officers for notifying police about the suspicious vehicle and we also commend the members for acting quickly. Both entities perfectly played their roles and arresting the four suspects as well recovering the vehicle which was previously stolen. If we continue to work like this then we are heading for success in our mandate to ensure safety for our citizens together with their properties” said the General.
