Handing over of 88 DPCI vehicles and 100 laptops by the Minister of Police, General BH, accompanied by the Deputy National Head, Mr C Mathale, MP, National Commissioner of Police, General SF Masemola, took place at the DPCI National Head Office this afternoon. The event was attended by the DPCI National Head, Lt Gen (Dr/Adv) Lebeya, Deputy National Head, Lt Gen TC Mosikili, Provincial and Components Heads.
In the quest to capacitate the Directorate, these vehicles and laptops are to be allocated to Provinces, Components and units within the Directorate.
In his address, the National Head, Lt Gen (Dr/Adv) Lebeya said the purpose of this august gathering is to receive tools of trade from the Government of the Republic of South Africa through the Minister of Police. He said vehicles to be handed over are an addition to the previous 214 that were handed by the Deputy Minister of Police in February 2022. Also that this means that 176 members will have new wheels, which will undoubtedly accelerate their movement.
The National Commissioner, General Fannie Masemola in giving the message of support said, ‘We can’t keep pumping resources without positive results’. He also pledged support to the Directorate and requested the same from the National Head. He also said both the mother body and the Directorate should work together as a team.
The Deputy Minister of Police, Mr C Mathale, MP, said these tools of trade will make it easier for Hawks to fly higher and higher.
In his address the Minister of Police, General BH Cele, MP, said this Government is hard at work in addressing the capacity and resource shortcomings within the security and justice system. He also said that work is underway to re-capacitate the country’s security apparatus; this includes appointing experienced professionals in the right positions.
