Helen Zille Leaves Her Public Twitter Account And Opens A Private One For People Interested In Debating. Helen Zille, the Democratic Alliance federal council chairperson and former Western Cape minister, has publically stated that she will be closing her current Twitter account.

Helen Zille, the Democratic Alliance federal council chairperson and former Western Cape minister, has publically stated that she will be closing her current Twitter account. She has also stated that she will be opening a private Twitter account. On Monday she stated that she was opening a private Twitter account for people that have an interest in a rational debate only.

She stated that Twitter had been taken down to a platform for irrationality and mob-lynching. This happened after she sent a Tweet of her and her granddaughter cooking while there was load shedding, some of the Twitter users asked her if the girl was her slave or she was practicing to be a helper. The Democratic Alliance federal council chairperson wrote a thread regarding her obtaining a private Twitter account.

“…After the Grotesque treatment of my grand-daughter on Twitter [yesterday], I am closing this account. I say goodbye to some of my followers, and good riddance to the haters, bots and sock-puppets that constitute such a large percentage of my 1,4 million plus followers…I apologise for that. But this evil platform that can find no effective way of filtering out fake accounts, and dealing with hate speech (as constitutionally defined) offers no alternative,” says Helen Zille. However, some tweeps didn’t feel sorry for her.

One tweep says, “Helen Zille is leaving twitter…there is a God after all!” One tweep says, “Helen Zille telling us that she’s quitting Twitter is like a 5-year-old saying they’re going to run away from home. No one really takes them seriously, and they definitely need adult supervision…” Famous puppet Chester Missing says, “Cape Town is getting its own electricity supply. They are hooking up a wind turbine to Helen Zille’s ego.”
