The election of Helen Zille was supposedly the reason why Herman Mashaba has resigned as the Democratic Alliance’s mayor of Johannesburg. South African social media users feel as if anything is better than having the former Western Cape Premier in office.
The tweeps used the hashtag #ClearlyBetterThanZille to say what they would prefer over Helen Zille. One tweep says, “Eating brown bread with peanut butter and getting chocked in the process is #ClearlyBetterThanZille.” One tweep says, “Commenting on tweleb’s tweet and being ignored is #ClearlyBetterThanZille.” One tweep made a joke about her academics. The tweep says, “My academic records are BAD AF [but] they are #ClearlyBetterThan Zille.” One tweep says getting blocked by the ‘WhatsApp Stokvel’ is better than the former Western Cape Premiere.
