An eagle landed in a woman’s living room while she was watching television.
Wendy Morrell was tuning in to watch the French Open tennis final at the weekend when an 18 inch Russian Steppe eagle flew into her home in Dorset via her patio window.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “We couldn’t believe it. There was total panic.
“It sat on top of a cabinet. It knocked over a few ornaments and then started pecking away at a bowl of potpourri.”
The woman phoned Wessex Bird of Prey Rescue who attended to the incident.
The Steppe Eagle, which belongs to the family Accipitridae, have been known to kill rodents and other small mammals up to the size of a hare in order to feed on them.
