Woah! Indonesia Wants To Ban Infidelity/Sx Outside Of Marriage. Indonesia wants to vote on a tactic to make homosexual s*x and s*x before marriage illegal, while also strengthening its blasphemy laws.

Indonesia wants to vote on a tactic to make homosexual s*x and s*x before marriage illegal, while also strengthening its blasphemy laws. This was allegedly due to an overhaul charged by conservative religion and the criticism by rights bands on Thursday. The drafted law might hurt a large number of people in Indonesia.

The people who would be hurt by this drafted law involve cis/straight people who might be arrested for having intercourse outside of their marriage (infidelity). There’s also a concern that the could largely impact the LGBTQ+ community in the country because of homosexual not being acknowledged in the country. Andreas Harsono, the senior Indonesia researcher for the Human Rights Watch, says the draft law might be chaotic for all the people in the country.

“Indonesia’s draft criminal code is disastrous not only for women and religious and gender minorities, but for all Indonesians. Lawmakers should remove all the abusive articles before passing the law,” says Andrea Harsono. The research manager of Amnesty International in Indonesia, Papang Hidayat, says the draft is a “setback.” Papang Hidayat says, “Religious values as a source of law-making has now reached the national level-that’s worrying.” Robikin Emhas, a spokesperson for Nahdlatul Ulama, a huge Islamic group, says the draft law is better than the recent one.

“Even though the criminal code bill that will be ratified still has shortcoming, it’s far better than the [one] today,” says the Nahdlatul Ulama spokesperson. According to the draft, those who are found having s*x before marriage or involved in infidelity will be sentenced for six months up to a year, along with paying fines. Those who also suggest contraception to children under the age of 18 will also be charged in the same way. The draft law will also have the people who slander the president or the vice president arrested.
