The complainant alleged that on 10 June 2021, he noticed that six cattle were stolen by unknown suspect from a farm in Melmoth. A case of stock theft was opened for investigation at Melmoth SAPS.

On Friday, 11 June 2021, the detectives from the Stock Theft Unit acted on an intelligence information regarding the stolen cattle. The team proceeded to Mahlaziyeni, an area that is situated in Nkandla. They went to two homesteads where they recovered six stolen cattle. Two suspects aged 32 and 35 were placed under arrest for stock theft. Both suspects are appearing before the Melmoth Magistrates’ Court today.

In another separate incident, on Saturday morning, Pietermaritzburg Stock Theft Unit acted on information regarding the two males that were busy selling two goats at Ntokozweni area in Thornville, travelling in a vehicle. With the assistance of Thornville SAPS, two suspects aged 20 and 21 were found in possession of two stolen goats that were loaded in a vehicle.
