Bonnie Mbuli and Pearl Thusi had a twar because of an argument over colourism. On Wednesday, Pearl Thusi went on to social media to speak about the negativity she receives as a light-skinned person because of colourism. The tweet started a debate of colourism on social media. Celebs such as Sho Madjozi and Phila Madlingozi were also in on the debate.
However, Bonnie Mbuli’s opposition with Pearl turned into a huge twar. The presenter went on to talk about how light-skinned people don’t lose much job opportunites, somewhat feeling like she was attacking Pearl Thusi. The two stars then attacked each other, using personal issues against each other on social media. Tweeps reacted in different ways to the two presenters fighting with each other.
Some tweeps didn’t like Pearl Thusi’s replies to Bonnie Mbuli. One tweep says the actress and presenter is a bad woman. The tweep says, “Pearl is a vile woman with a very selective amnesia. Wasn’t she the one who shared a couch with AKA dragging Bonang and she seems to be enjoying it? But today she’s speaks of positivity and yet she had to drag Bonnie’s mental health issues while at it.” One tweep says she is reacting to Bonnie in the same manner when white people reply to black people.
The tweep says, “The way Pearl is replying to Bonnie is exactly how white people reply on a racism topic. It becomes about them and how hard they work, they interpret it as an attack and become defensive.” One tweep says, “Bonnie is part of the side that knows how to articulate clearly when expressing herself…” One tweep says, “It was [not] low for Pearl Thusi to have brought up Bonnie’s mental issues in the twar. She felt attacked & had to retaliate…She felt her achievements downplayed.”
