The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has appreciated the speedy arrest of a 32-year-old suspect, yesterday at Balfour in connection with an incident where a 24-year-old woman, together with her two-year-old daughter, were found dead. Their bodies were discovered on Monday, 06 June 2022, at their house in Siyathemba Informal Settlement in Balfour.
Police immediately conducted their diligent investigation hence the swift arrest of the suspect. It was further revealed that the 24-year-old victim was strangled to death. The suspect is due to appear before the Balfour Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, Thursday 09 June, 2022 facing two counts of murder and defeating the ends of justice.
The Provincial Commissioner has once again expressed her appreciation on the determination and commitment displayed by the Police in the investigation of this case. She vowed that police will continue to fight the scourge of crime gainst women and children.
