The minister acknowledged the news on Twitter. “I am pleased to welcome [Masechaba Ndlovu] to the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture as my newly appointed Spokesperson. As a Department, we know that you will play an integral part in executing our motto of ‘laying the foundation for greatness’,” says Minister Nathi Mthethwa.
The media personality and former presenter promised to be of service. However, the gain for Masechaba Ndovu was a harsh loss for someone else. Asanda Magaqa found out about the news on her social media account but she was more hurt by the people that who made jokes about Masechaba Ndlovu replacing her as the spokesperson for the Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture. She then stated that she will be taking a bit of a break from social media.
One tweep says, “What has shattered my heart most…Is not the news I woke up to; not your collective “why’s” & “how’s”…But seeing my name as a subject of speculation, jokes, & damaging insinuations…& seeing strangers mock & laugh at me as I undergo a devastating moment in my life…” A few tweeps responded to the former spokesperson’s tweet. “I’m happy you wrote this thread. So many here thrive on the ugly. We laugh with each other but we really don’t care and wish each other away. You have our support Asanda and God himself has many plans laid for you,” says one tweep.
