With our Back-to-Basics approach to policing and in an attempt to effectively address trio crimes, a team of detectives from the Vehicle Crime Identification Unit (VCIU) in Uitenhage are following up on all possible leads following the hijacking of a white VW Polo in Zuba Street, Kwanobuhle at about 20:05, last night, Wednesday, 17 April 2019.
It is alleged that the complainant (about 35-years-old) and his wife were at home when there was a knock on the door. Four unknown males, of which one pointed a firearm at the couple, demanded the car keys of the VW Polo. The suspects then also took a plasma TV, a DVD player and a cellphone and fled from the scene in the VW Polo.
No one sustained any injuries during the incident and the couple notified the SAPS after the suspects left. The vehicle was not recovered as yet and detectives are following up on several leads.
Anyone who might be able to assist with information about the vehicle or the suspects are requested to contact the investigating officer, Const Renier Japhta on 071 352 5184, VCIU on 041 995 8000 or Crime Stop 08600 10111.
