Editors have expressed fury over attacks directed towards Karima Brown after Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema released her number on social media stating that Brown is an informant.
On Tuesday Evening, Julius Malema released a tweet of a screenshot of an EFF media statement’s group conversation in which Brown accidentally posted and deleted a message, following a statement that was mistakenly sent to the group.
The South African Editors’ Forum (Sanef) said through its statement Brown’s message was meant for a journalist group instead.
The media statement was a for a breakfast event for elders that was to be hosted today.
“We call on Julius Malema and the entire EFF leadership to apologise to Karima Brown,” said Sanef.
After Malema’s tweet, Sanef said, Brown began receiving disturbing messages.
Sanef reminded Julius Malema of the time when his residential address was tweeted by journalist Jacques Pauw. The forum condemned the act at that time.
