Police officers are examining a case of attempted murder after a shooting incident on Monday at Bryanston Drive in Johannesburg. Brigadier Mathapelo Peters, the Gauteng police spokesperson, there are details from the area of the incident that one car halted in from of another car, both Mercedes-Benz vehicles. There was then a bit of an altercation between the two drivers.
The driver who shot another driver handed himself over to the police. “It is alleged that the one driver who was shot was taken by the other driver to a nearby hospital. The detained suspect’s firearm was handed to the police and was detained after handing himself over to the police,” says the Gauteng police spokesperson. The man man who was shot is said to be in severe condition at a Mediclinic facility in Sandton, Johannesburg.
Some South Africans have expressed their concern over the road rage shooting incident. One tweep says, “The shooting in Bryanston is confusing. Your road rage leads you to pulling out a gun, shooting another driver, then when you realize that you have shot him…you take him out of his car & in to yours, drive him to the hospital & had yourself over?” One tweep says, “I am a gun owner myself but this is an aspect of gun ownership that worries me. People in SA are angry, frustrated and pushed to their emotional limits. It takes just one moment of rage…”
