Butterworth Regional Magistrate’s Court sentenced 28-year-old Songezo Ntame to undergo twelve years imprisonment for rape. The accused was sentenced on Monday, 04 February 2019 at Butterworth Regional Magistrate’s Court.
It is alleged that a 68-year-old woman was at her home with a friend on the 04th of August 2018 at about 22:00 at Xholo Village, Dutywa. The accused pushed the door and managed to open it and raped the woman. The victim’s friend managed to get out and called the neighbours who apprehended the accused and police were called to the scene and arrested the suspect.
The complainant opened a rape case at Dutywa Police Station. The case was handed over to Butterworth Family Violence and Child Protection Unit (FCS) for investigation.
