Principal Discontinued Because Of Assault Allegations In Durban School. Mthandeni Dlungwana says that the first thing that should have been done was to discontinue the principal.
The Department of education has discontinued the principal of a primary school that is based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. The Department of Education discontinued the principal because of an examination against him that needed to start. This comes after claims that the principal assaults the educators physically, verbally and sexually. The teachers have disputed against the principal for four years.
According to IOL, the KwaZulu-Natal MEC of Education, Mthandeni Dlungwana, didn’t want to have a meeting at the school till the male was removed from the school yard, that’s what the MEC said when he went to the school. The MEC says that he spoke with 14 educators that told him about the issues that the educators had. Mthandeni Dlungwana says that the first thing that should have been done was to discontinue the principal.
Mthandeni Dlungwana says,“We will do an investigation, but we have suspended him because the matter is very serious. We have spoken to teachers, and it was revealed that some of them have protection orders against him.”
MEC Mthandeni Dlungwana says that this sends a message to those that violate the rights of others. A principal will be placed in the place of the discontinued principal in oreder to make sure that a smooth school process is still underway. Themba Ndhlovu of the South African Council of Educators says that the matter was given to them on Monday and they began the investigation as soon as they could.
Ndhlovu says, “We have referred the case to our legal department. We will be sending our officials to the school as soon as possible to begin with the investigation.”
