Police tighten their grip on criminals - Mpumalanga

In their endeavours to protect the community against anti-law abiding citizens, Cape Town Central police members arrested four suspects for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition on Thursday, 29 July 2021.

The members were busy conducting routine patrols on FW De Klerk Boulevard at about 12:00 when they noticed a Volkswagen Polo driving in the direction of the Central Business District. As the police approached the vehicle, the occupants acted suspicious, upon which the vehicle was pulled over. Upon searching the vehicle, a firearm and ammunition were found in the vehicle. The occupants aged between 23 and 35 were arrested and detained as no one could produce a valid licence to possess such a firearm.  Once charged they are expected to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on the mentioned charge.

In an unrelated matter, a 29-year-old woman was arrested for the possession and dealing in drugs by members attached to Manenberg SAPS Crime Prevention Unit earlier today, Thursday, 29 July at 15:15

The members were busy with visible patrols when they received information regarding dealing in drugs at an address in Elsa Court Manenberg. They immediately followed up the information and entered and searched the house at the mentioned address. The members found 49 units of whoonga in the female suspect’s possession.

She was arrested and will appear in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court once charged.
