Police arrest alleged woman housebreaker and recover suspected stolen property worth thousands of rands

Joint intelligence driven operations that are up and running throughout this Province have produced positive results after 772 suspects aged between 18 and 69 were apprehended for various crimes including offenses under the Road Traffic Act, theft, trio crimes, assault, armed robbery, possession of suspected stolen property, possession and dealing in drugs, etc. The operations were conducted through road blocks, stop and searches, patrols, tracing of wanted suspects, etc. The operations were carried out by members attached to various police Units in all the Station precincts, Clusters including the Public Order Police Unit and the Tactical Response Team (TRT). These simultaneous operations were running for twenty four hours in all the Clusters especially in the crime infested areas including at all the Port of Entries. In the Mankweng Policing area, two suspects aged 35 and 45 were nabbed at ga-Mamabolo area for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition. During the arrest, 97 live rounds of ammunition for 9mm and R5 rifle were recovered. Meanwhile, in the Hoedspruit Policing area, a 69-year-old man was arrested at Molalane village for Illegal possession of ammunition. During the arrest, 519 live ammunition and 08 home-made silencers were recovered. In the Burgersfort policing area, one suspect was arrested for possession of suspected stolen properties. During the arrest, the following items were recovered, Honda diesel pump control, LEO electric automatic pump control, Sony sound system, water bottle, air conditioner remote, 9 ceiling globes, fan, electric stove plate, Adidas sneakers and black decker drill machine. Through Preliminary Police investigations it was revealed that the items were stolen at a Farm along the R37 road (Tzaneen- Lydenburg). In the Lephalale Cluster, in the Villa Nora Policing area, 02 suspects aged 23 and 24 for housebreaking and theft. During the arrest, three music systems and copper cables to the estimated street value of R 8 000.00 were confiscated. In the Dennilton policing area, a suspicious motor vehicle was stopped and searched along Moutse road and 100 sachets of Nyaope were confiscated when it was found concealed inside the boot. One suspect aged 34 was arrested for possession and dealing in drugs. In the Makhado Policing area, a 42-year-old man was arrested for house robbery and the following items were recovered: * Toyota quantum * Two couches and a table During these operations, various items were recovered with the estimated value of over R2 Million as follows: * 17 motor vehicles * 25 firearms including rifles, 03 magazines and 256 ammunition * 17 cell phones * 06 laptops * 04 TV's * Liquor, drugs, dagga, cash amount of money, music system, computers, copper cables, generator, clothing, shoes, cigarettes, solar panels, bank cards, utensils, groceries, airtime vouchers, cd's, Jojo tank, bags The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has praised the men and women in blue for their dedication and commitment displayed during these operations. The arrested suspects have already started appearing before different Magistrate Courts throughout the Province. The police investigations in all these cases are still continuing.

A 42-year-old woman was arrested in Spruitview, Ekurhuleni, on Friday 22 March 2019, after she was found with suspected stolen properties that worth thousands of rand. The items include televisions, microwaves, laptops, washing machines, Honda motorbike and other appliances. These goods are suspected to have been stolen during house robberies and breakings.  Police stopped the suspect who was driving a Mitsubishi Pajero coming from Angelo Informal Settlement in Boksburg and upon searching the car, stolen properties were recovered. She was taken to her place of residence in Spruitview where more suspected stolen appliances were recovered. An investigation is underway to establish whether or not she could be linked to other cases of house robberies, especially where women were the suspects.

Still in Ekurhuleni, a murder and attempted murder suspect was fatally wounded during a shootout with the police. Police received information about a man who was wanted for a string of murders in Ekurhuleni. The suspect was spotted in Emalahleni Informal Settlement in Tembisa, as he was arrested, he pulled out a firearm and shot at the police. A shootout ensued and the suspect was fatally wounded. Ammunition and unlicensed firearm used by the suspect was recovered. 

In Soweto, police arrested two men who are suspected to be behind the robberies of bread delivery trucks. Police were following up on information of suspects that are behind the spate of robberies of bread delivery trucks in Soweto. Police kept observation and followed one truck in Doornkop where suspects accosted a truck. Upon seeing the police, suspects started shooting and police returned fire injuring a 19-year-old suspect and arresting a 22-year-old. The hunt for other suspects and firearms used is continuing.

Furthermore, intelligence-driven operations were conducted in different areas in Gauteng and resulted in the arrest of more than one 1200 suspects for various crimes. Suspects were arrested for crimes ranging from murder, rape, house robbery, car hijacking, possession of drugs, assault, fraud, armed robbery and driving while under the influence of alcohol.

The arrested suspects will appear in Magistrate Courts in due course.
