The Multi-disciplinary joint Task Team, comprising of various Police Units in the Lephalale Cluster, has on Monday, 25 March 2019, made a major breakthrough when four armed robbery suspects were nabbed. The suspects, aged between 24 and 25 are believed to be a syndicate which was terrorizing members of the community in the area for some time.

Members of this Task Team conducted an operation which led to the arrest of two (2) of the suspects at Ga-Dikgale village outside Polokwane. The other two were apprehended in Mahwelereng Township outside Mokopane.

The suspects were allegedly traveling in a white Mazda 323 vehicle disguising as a meter taxi and in the process, robbing people at gunpoint while transporting them to their respective destinations. In some instances, some of the victims were forced to swipe their bank cards on the speed point machine in their possession, transferring money to their bank accounts. These suspects may be linked to more similar cases in and around the Lephalale Cluster or in other Clusters.

The suspects will appear before the Witpoort magistrate court soon.

The police are appealing to anyone who fell victim to this syndicate, to come forward. They may contact Detective Sergeant Martin Makgae at 014 7637952 or 076 964 7124 or the Crime Stop number 0860010111 or the crime Line SMS 32211 or the nearest Police Station.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Major General Jan Scheepers has commended this Team of Saps members in the Lephalale Cluster for a job well done.
