Three hundred and eight suspects were arrested from the operations that were conducted Wednesday 2020 – 08- 19 until Thursday 2020 – 08 – 20 in the afternoon in Ekurhuleni District Policing Precincts.
The arrests were a result of joint operations between SAPS, EMPD, Gauteng Traffic, JMPD and other law enforcement agencies.
Suspects were arrested for various crimes ranging from assault, possession of drugs, dagga, dealing in drugs, malicious damage to properties, house breaking and theft, business robbery, possession of unlicensed firearm, Contravention of Disaster Management Act, Possession of stolen goods and hijacked vehicle.
About one thousand two hundred and ninety three vehicles and two thousand and eighty two persons were searched, while Fifty eight traffic fines valued R33 100, 00 were issued for those who contravened road traffic act.
In Ivory Park a suspect who was shooting randomly into the air was arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
In Boksburg a suspect has been sentenced to life imprisonment for rape, 5 years for grooming, 10 years for incest, 5 years for sexual assault and 6 years imprisonment for abduction.
Seven suspects were arrested with full load of Television sets in Putfontein and hijacked vehicle that was reported at Benoni Saps in January 2018.
The arrests were effected as a result of patrols, stop and searches, road blocks, visits to liquor outlets and to ensure that Disaster Management Act and its regulations are adhered to.
The District Commissioner, Major General Vincent Leshabane appreciates the good results from the team, to ensure the safety of the community and their contribution to decrease serious crimes.
