KZN Man Finds Out That He Is “Married” To His Mother. A man discovered four years ago that he was married to his mom, since then his life has been turbulent.

A man discovered four years ago that he was married to his mom, since then his life has been turbulent. 38-year-old Sandile Mkhize from KwaZulu-Natal was getting ready to be married to his partner until the Department of Home Affairs said that he would not be able to. This was because he was lawfully married to his mother, according to Isolezwe.

His mother, Zandile Mkhize, is actually married to Siphiwo Mkize, his father. He had to pull back his wedding because of the mistake that had occurred. Sadly, the woman that Sandile Mkhize meant to get married to passed away in August 2018. Till now, the issue had reportedly not been solved. Cyril Mncwabe, the provincial home affairs manager, told’ Drum’ that they had the family files and hope to get a way to solve the problem soon. He went on to say that this type of matter is not unusual.

“I am following up on the issue and with the help of the department, we will get to the bottom of this and see that the man is assisted,” says Cyril Mncwabe. The parents have been married since 11 November 1994, however, Sandile Mkhize got married to his mother on 12 November 1994. He was 14 at the time, an age where he was not allowed to get married. He told Isolezwe that there are two certificates, one is the one for his parents and the other was the one where he was supposedly married to his mom. He says not being able to marry his partner was one of the problems the mess up has caused. “This whole thing has taken its toll on my life,” says Sandile Mkhize.
