Man Finds Out That His Identity Has Allegedly Been Stolen By Someone In Prison. He states that he was applying for employment when he was told that he had a criminal record and should be in prison.

A man from Durban in KwaZulu-Natal was on the mission of discovering how a man with his identification details was having jail time in the Westville Prison. Philani Ngubane is a truck driver. He states that he was applying for employment when he was told that he had a criminal record and should be in prison.

“We can’t hire you. You should be in jail, serving a 10-year sentence for hijacking.” This is what the man was told when he was looking for employment. Philani Ngubane began an Uber e-hailing business by February 2018. He says that he would rent drivers to work on his cabs while he works at his full-time employment. When he is not working at his full-time employment he would drive one of his cabs and give one of his drivers leave. He remembers leaving his driving licence in of his vehicles but he didn’t give it much thought. This is due to him having another drivers licence along with his public driver’s permit for his full-time truck employment. After some time he heard that one of his drivers was driving in the car that he had left his driver’s licence in. The driver was apprehended when he was not working. “I never followed up on his case because what crime he did was not done during his work time .

Last year when I was applying for a new job, I was told I had a criminal record and that I couldn’t get the job,” says Philani Ngubane. He attempted telling the Verulam police officials that the man must have used his driver’s licence, resulting in him being cloned. He has been moved from one police sector to another, and I Verulam he was sent to a detective who was working on the matter but couldn’t help him. He ended up finding the man’s identity by himself. The man’s name is Mmeli Misumuzi Gumede, the man’s parents gave him ID copies. Colonel Thembekka Mbele, police spokesperson, says the man should see the Verulam detective branch commander for help.
