The Company Director (33) and his company named Homeground were served with the summonses to appear in the Polokwane Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on 31 May 2022 for alleged fraud.
In an attempt by the government to fight Corona Virus in the country, the company was in October 2020 awarded a tender to supply the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in 23 schools at Gauteng Province. It is further alleged that the company was paid R6 448 281-00 by the Department of Education for services that were rendered.
The South African Revenue Service (SARS) allegedly conducted its audit and find that the company was not VAT compliant and it was owing R841 080-31. The matter was then referred to the Hawks’ Serious Corruption investigation for further handling.
The Department is also being investigated. Other PPE’s related cases in the Province are still under investigation.
