A 52-year-old suspect who allegedly conspired with Nicolas Fouche (24), to smuggle undeclared R1.7 million cash into Botswana last week is expected to appear at the Lephalale Magistrate’s Court today following his arrest by the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation unit.
The Hawks investigation in the matter linked the second suspect who had paid Fouche a visit at the holding cells. Fouche was arrested at Stockpoort Border Post on the 7th August 2019 with undeclared cash whilst crossing the border in contravention of the Exchange Control Regulations, Customs and Excise Act.
Fouche remains in custody and is expected to make a second appearance at the Lephalale Magistrate’s Court on the 15th August 2019, for a formal bail application.
