Girl Kills Herself After Asking Instagram User To Help Her Choose Life/Death. The authorities in Malaysia are examining the incident of a girl who has allegedly committed suicide after asking people on the internet to choose whether she lives or dies.

The authorities in Malaysia are examining the incident of a girl who has allegedly committed suicide after asking people on the internet to choose whether she lives or dies. The 16-year-old created a poll on her Instagram profile. The poll read: “Really Important, Help Me Choose D/L.”

The district police chief, Aidil Bolhassan, told Reuters that the girl created the poll before she leaped off a building in Sarawak, Malaysia on Monday. Bolhassan said: “The D/L meant Death or Life.” The district police chief says that 69% of the votes opted for ‘D’. “We are conducting a post-mortem to determine whether there were other factors in her death,” said Aidil Bolhassan.

He said the girl had a past of depression. The head of communications in the Asia-Pacific offices of Instagram says that the poll ended up with 88% of the social media users voting for L. The district police chief says the numbers might have changed because the news of 16-year-old’s demise have already been spread.

The lawyer and representative of parliament, RamkarpalSingh, said that the people who have opted for the death option on the poll may be guilty of encouraging suicide. In Malaysia, people that are sentenced for encouraging the suicide of young people may face the death penalty or they may face a jail sentence of 20 years and a fine. Instagram gave its condolences to the girl’s relatives. The company also says they are responsible for keeping their users safe.
