FREE STATE – Safer Festive Season operations hits hard on drugs and gangsterism

FREE STATE – Members of Welkom Public Order Policing Reaction Team are deployed at Bothaville to flatten the curve of criminal acts especially gang related incidents. Ten people were subsequently arrested and mandrax, dagga, dangerous weapons and cash seized.

On the 27 November 2020 members of POP Reaction Team received a crime intelligence led information about drugs sold in Ditshehlong section at Kgotsong.

The information was followed and a 27-year-old male was about to leave the house with a plastic bag but returned to the house when he saw the police and locked himself in. The police managed to gain entry and the man was found in possession of 108 full mandrax tablets, 88 half Madrax tablets, 19 quarter mandrax tablets and cash. He was arrested for dealing in drugs.

Another male (28) was arrested for dealing in drugs after he was found with 5 full, 12 half and 5 quarter mandrax tablets, one (1) Crystel Myth sachet and cash.

A 43-year-old male was arrested for dealing in dagga after he was found with 50 large and 73 medium pokes of dagga and cash.

Meanwhile a 35-year-old man was arrested for possession of drugs after he was found with 6 half mandrax tablets.

Six suspects aged between 18 and 23 were arrested for possession of dangerous weapons in different sections of Kgotsong and most of them were found to belong to gangs like Moshazavi, IJP and SVK.

Eight pangas and three knives were found and seized.

All these suspects will appear in Bothaville Magistrate Court on 30 November 2020.
