A terrifying incident occurred last night, 22 June 2019 at about 22:00 at Ngaleng village in the Ga-Mamabolo area under the Mankweng policing precinct outside Polokwane.
It is alleged that a couple had a domestic dispute last year which resulted in their separation. The woman took her two children to stay at her parent’s home in Sekgosese near Giyani. Yesterday the children went back to Mankweng to visit their father for the school holidays and upon their arrival, the man allegedly called his wife. Subsequent to this telephonic conversation, the father allegedly turned against the children and hanged them one by one in separate rooms before he fled the scene.
The Police were summoned and reacted swiftly. The initial police investigations and manhunt for the man ensued until he was found hanged in a house within the area.
The deceased were identified as follows:
* Anna Kgatle aged 8
* Marry Kgatle aged 5
* Samuel Kgatle aged 38
The police have opened cases of two counts of murder and inquest for further investigations.
Members of the community are advised to seek professional assistance when they encounter any social related problems in their lives rather than resorting to killings especially directed to the innocent children, concluded General Scheepers.
