People on social media have been backing sports presenter Robert Marawa since he was fired by SuperSport. Yesterday (Thursday) Robert told people on social media that he was fired by the DSTV sports channel via text. He says that he received the text just two hours before he was supposed to start his show “Thursday Night Live with Marawa.”
Robert Marawa says that his sudden dismissal is linked to the sexual assault allegations that he said occurred within the hierarchies of SuperSport. “…Imagine paying for a service where people who r (are) guilty of sexual harassment r (are) employed and encouraged to work!! Lovely hey…,” says Robert in one of his tweets.
Fans of the sports presenter outraged by the action that SuperSport had taken. The fans and the MEC for Education, Panyaza Lesufi, demanded that SuperSport bring back Marawa to the show. Panyaza Lesufi says, “Hi @DStv @SuperSoprtTV are you for real with @robertmarawa ? Don’t start! #BringBackRobert” One fan stated that the sports channel should be boycotted.
The fan says, “@SuperSportTV must be boycotted. they are totally out of order. The first time I heard about management taking advantage of young interns I thought it was a lie but now the popes dress has been lifted.” One fan ensured Robert Marawa that he was backed by the public for his actions. The fan says, “We support you fully for your morals and values and for being a voice for the victims of this treatment in the workplace.” However, other social media users say its time Robert gave other presenters the opportunity.
