EASTERN CAPE – An operation focussing on illicit drugs conducted by SAPS Kwazakele police successfully led to the arrest of three suspects and the recovery of suspected stolen property.
On Tuesday, 03 November 2020 at about 19:30, a house in Sompontsha Street in Zwide was searched and two suspects aged 18 and 24 years were arrested for illegal possession of drugs. Eight small packets of Khat (drug) and one large bag of uncut khat were found and confiscated. Estimated street value of the drugs is about R 15 000-00.
At about 20:30, a second house in Rholihlahla Street, Soweto-on-Sea was searched and 49 small packets and 19 large packets of tik were found and confiscated. The estimated street value is approximately R 23 000-00. Police also found a suspected stolen laptop, a video camera and video equipment to the value of approximately R 200 000-00. A 23-year-old female was arrested and charged for the illegal possession of drugs as well as the possession of suspected stolen property.
All three suspects are expected to appear in the New Brighton magistrates’ court on 05 November 2020.
