DURBAN: The police officers from Pietermaritzburg Flying Squad remain on high alert to curb all forms criminality. Yesterday at 11:00, the team conducted an operation on the N3 Freeway before the Church Street off-ramp. They spotted a panel van which was stopped and searched. Police discovered 25 x 40kg bags which contained dagga.
The estimated street value of the dagga is R1,1 million. A 48-year-old man was placed under arrest for dealing as well as transportation of dagga. The suspect’s vehicle was also seized for further investigation. He is expected to appear at the Pietermaritzburg Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 5 October 2020.
The Acting KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Major General Thulani Gonya praised the team for the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of dagga.
