His resignation came less than a year since he joined the radio station’s breakfast on April 2019. The media personality started several rumours of his possible resignation from Radio 2000 due to him missing numerous shows in February.

However, Mmoni Seapolelo, the SABC spokesperson, told Daily Sun that the former host was on special leave. The former ‘Phat Joe and the family’ host was in hot water quite a lot because of his controversial incidents that were offensive to certain listeners. Black Twitter reacted to the recent resignation of Phat Joe from Radio 2000. Some tweeps feel as if the media personality should have his own radio station. One tweep says, “Phat Joe and Ntsiki Mazwai need to lunch an online radio station together. Their views are too raw for mainstream radio.”

“Phat Joe needs to open his own radio station so he can fire and rehire himself whenever he feels like it, as many times as he wants,” says one tweep.
