A social media user shared images of prison inmates braaing meat. The user just wanted to know get opinions from other social media users. “What’s your take on this issue of prisoners having a braai,” says the social media user on Twitter.
The tweeps had different views on the men braaing the meat. Some tweeps thought that the people do not have the right to have such a meal. One tweep says, “The problem is that prisons are seen as rehabilitation centre’s than places of punishment, more people get out for good behaviour than finishing their sentences. It’s really sad.” One tweep says, “…how is it possible that prisons are more like 5 [star] hotels…while victims can’t even afford help/therapy/ counselling yet this MF [have a braai]…”
Some tweeps felt that there was nothing bad about the event that was shown. One tweep says, “Some prisons have family days or braais for good behaviour. Usually for not dangerous offenders. Prison food nationwide is disgusting. Perhaps this was [a] [Christmas] braai.” One tweep says, “If they did not cut up an inmate or a guard I see no problem with it!!” Media personality Sizwe Dhlomo says, “What do you mean? There’s no take…ninjas are prepping their own meal. WTF? How do you feel when they play football or sing or dance?” The date of the pictures is not known.
