Basetsana Kumalo has been in the public spotlight for her great achievements in the entertainment industry. She went on to speak her side on the issue of including women in the lobola negotiations. The businesswoman went onto her Instagram to tell people how she became part of representatives that only included men, she wanted woman to know the importance of seeing the story. Basetsana Kumalo has been part of the representatives for the third time in in over 10 years; this happened at the lobola negotiations of one of her loved ones’ daughter.

She also expressed how she feels about lobola negotiations. The businesswoman says, “I love our culture, I love our roots, I love our customs, I love our tradition, I love our beauty of two families coming together as one. This morning I had the true honour of being UNozakuzaku…for one one of the #DaughtersOfMyHeart…representing the Ndala family as the Nkosi family brought us izinkomo (cows).” She went on to speak about the importance of women in the lobola negotiations as a process in these times.

“Being the only woman in the room of 11 men was a stark reminder that women need to be brought into the room and at the table at such important occasions that determine the future of our children. Today was my 3rd time being uNozakuzaku over the last 10 years…” Social media users supported her stance on including women in the lobola negotiations process.
