AKA Explains Why Celebs Don’t Involve Themselves In Social Issues. On Tuesday hip hop artist AKA replied to a call by model Babalwa Mneno.
On Tuesday hip hop artist AKA replied to a call by model Babalwa Mneno. She asked celebrities to help the country and speak about the social issues that the country has. She told them to leave their professions for some time and take a stand.
“I beg SOUTH AFRICAN CELEBRITIES to wake up and drop whatever sports, tv, radio, acting, influencer, singing, designer job and TAKE A STAND FOR ONCE!!!! SPEAK TRUTH TO MATTER! Our country is in trouble and [your] silence isn’t helping!!! Stop being cowards!!!! STAND UP & SPEAK UP,” says Babalwa Mneno. The Super Mega commented to the tweet saying that people insult them. “The people have told us to shut up and stick to music,” says the hip hop artist.
Babalwa Mneno was surprised that AKA would succumb to societal insults. The model says, “…wow. I know [you] quite vocal [though]…in this space.” One tweep says people only want celebrities to say what they want to hear from them instead of having opinions. The tweep says, “Problem is, people don’t want your opinion, they want you to say what they wanna hear. You can’t have a different view from the mob. Basically they want puppets who’ll hold back their views.” One tweep says, “And people also told you to stop using auto-tuner, but did you…?” One tweep says, “That’s because you have not been helpful in your talking, but if you are helpful maybe we can give you amnesty…”
