Abducted 14 Year Old Polokwane girl rescued

The intensive search operation and intensive investigations by the South African Police Service in Seshego outside Polokwane, for a missing 14-year-old girl resulted into the safe recovery of the girl and arrest of the suspect involved.

The SAPS Seshego Cluster Commander, Major General Samuel Mokgonyana activated a Team of dedicated SAPS members composed of the Detectives and Crime Prevention Unit members who worked tirelessly since yesterday afternoon on 2019-06-23, following a tip-off from members of the community about the whereabouts of the girl.

During this operation, the girl was rescued at a shack atone of the Extensions in the Seshego area. The 37-year-old suspect had already fled the scene but was traced and arrested this morning (2019-06-24), at his hideout around Seshego.

The arrest follows the incident where the girl was reported missing by her family last week, after she allegedly left home but failed to return. The Preliminary investigations by the Police revealed that the suspect, who is known to the girl, raped her repeatedly during the period she was abducted.

Cases of rape and abduction were opened against the suspect. He will appear before the Seshego Magistrate’s Court soon.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Major General Jan Scheepers, has commended the Cluster Commander and his team on the job well done in cracking such a complex matter within a short space of time.
