Members of Tembisa Social Crime Prevention, Communication, Sector Managers, Gauteng Community Safety, CPF and Youth Desk had a school talk at Bokamoso Secondary School.
On Friday, 30 July 2021, it came to the attention of Tembisa police that about five of the schools, their learners are involved in gangsterism. What puzzled most was that the groups are mostly Grade 8, 9 and 10 and comprises of girls only. The two groups call themselves 16 Destroyers and 5 Kilometer. A formal meeting was held at school with the parents of the identified learners. Some parents were found to be aware of the groups as they were also confronted and intimidated at their houses while the group wanted to assault their children.
It is because of this uncalled behaviour that the SAPS Social Crime Prevention and other stakeholders decided to be proactive and address the school learners.
Cst Makgupya told the learners to stop bullying others and gangsterism has to come to an end as the police will not always come and only address them but will also come and effect an arrest. Mr Thomas Shoko from Gauteng Community Safety reminded the learners to focus on their studies as now it is no longer primary school but every decision take determines their future.
