CAPE TOWN – A cash in transit robbery occurred at Shoprite Midway Centre in Mbekweni in the Cape Winelands on Monday morning. Reports indicate that a G4 security official was coming out of the supermarket where he went in to pick up cash, when he was approached by seven suspects. They pointed him with a firearm and demanded the money as well as his pistol. They fled the scene with an undisclosed cash amount and the firearm.
Later on the box without the money was found abandoned in the Thembani Square area in Mbekweni. Four men residing in nearby the shacks were taken in for questioning by the Hawks investigators. A case docket is being investigated by the Hawks.
