MELODING – Nnoi Motsamai aged 25 will appear at the Virginia Magistrate Court on 2 December 2020 for bail application on charges of murder, rape and attempted murder.

It is alleged that on 22 November 2020 at about 02:00, the suspect and his accomplice went to a house belonging to a 40-year-old in Stilte Park, Meloding. It is alleged that the duo found him near the outside toilet where they shot him twice in the abdomen and dragged him into his house. Inside the house they demanded money and cellphones and forced him to watch while they both raped his 26-year-old partner who was with him at home at the time of the incident.

It is further alleged that a concerned neighbour aged 36 heard the commotion and went to check what was happening when the suspects shot him before fleeing the scene with R1000-00 and a cellphone.

Both victims were rushed to hospital in a private car. On arrival at the hospital the 36-year-old neighbour was pronounced dead and the house owner was given medical attention.

A case of murder, attempted murder and rape were opened at Meloding SAPS for further investigation. Meloding police members worked around the clock to track down the perpetrators which led to the arrest of Motsamai on 25 November 2020. Police are however tracing the second suspect who is still on the run.

Meloding police appeal to anyone with information to contact Detective/Sergeant Jansen Van Rensburg on 065 800 3622, who is assigned to investigate this matter.
