Within the past year, babies have been given birth to in other places instead of the labour ward. One of the most known places that babies were given birth at seems to be in Taxis, in one case it was due to the nurses allegedly refusing to help the people involved. Well, recently it was in a police station.

The police spokesperson says five police officials came together to organise tools for the baby’s birth. This involved gloves, warm water and a bottle for the woman to blow into. “The mother could not wait for the arrival of the ambulance and suddenly delivered the baby with the assistance of Folweni SAPS. The mother safely delivered a healthy baby boy…mother and baby are well and were immediately to Prince Mshiyeni Hospital,” says the police spokesperson. An ex-midwife was called in for assistance as she lives close to the station. The mother and baby boy will be visited by the delegation on Monday.
