South African Air Force Aircraft Crashes In The Democratic Republic Of The Congo. A South African Air Force aircraft crashed and was bursting with fire when it was landing on Thursday at Goma in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

A South African Air Force aircraft crashed and was bursting with fire when it was landing on Thursday at Goma in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Photos on social media show that the left wing of the aircraft (C-130BZ) was destroyed and there also seemed to be fire from the engine. ‘Reuters’ acknowledged the instance through a spokesperson from the United Nations.

Two anonymous sources from the airport told Reuters that the aircraft didn’t seem to be damaged much. However, video recordings are showing smoke coming from the aircraft. According to a Reuters journalist, Fiston Mahamba, 67 individuals were saved including eight crew members and 59 passengers. Every passenger is supposedly safe. According to reports the aircraft had goods on it.

The South African Air Force acknowledged that one of its craft that were sent to the Democratic Republic of the Congo as part of the United Nations peacekeeping mission was hurt after crash landing in Goma in the Democratic Republic of the Congo on Thursday. The department of defence, in a statement, says,“The C130 from the South African Air Force was on its way back to Goma after delivering logistic supplies at Beni when the incident happened.” The department says they will be investigating the circumstances of the event.
