Woolworths Apologises For Apartheid Flag Coloured Bag Sold In SA. Woolworths has issued an apology for a bag that it was selling in South Africa.

Woolworths has issued an apology for a bag that it was selling in South Africa. The bag had the colours that resembled the former apartheid government flag colours. The bag under the label of ‘Country Road’, was seen by South African social media users on Monday.

The bag had all three colours (orange, white and blue). These were the famous colours of the former apartheid flag nicknamed oranje, blanje, blou. Country Road, a brand owned by Woolworths, says it is remorseful that the use of its seasonal colours have caused displeasure. The company has removed the bags from being sold . The bag was made in Australia, and it was stated that the bags are attributed with a five-stripe design and adjusted based on seasons with new colours.

The company has stated that the five colours that are seasonally used for summer are, orange, azure blue, marshmallow, baby blue and navy. They state that they didn’t intend to offend anyone. Country Road says, “We offer our sincerest apologies to all our South African customers. It is never our intention to cause offence and we have decided to discontinue sales of this item.” In August the Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg has declare the display of the flag as being hate speech.
