“About 4 weeks ago I got a call from the British embassy. The Duchess of Sussex placed an order for a pair of jeans and today she came to collect them personally…Surprised her with a pair of dungarees for Archie and the rest is history,” says Tshepo Mohlala on the Tshepo Jeans social media account. The Duchess of Sussex is now in Johannesburg as part of her Southern African tour with the Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry along with their son Archie.
She went to Victoria Yards in Lorentzville to show her backing for local South African fashion designers. Meghan Markle also posted photos from her visit at Victoria Yards on the Royal Sussex Instagram account. The Instagram account stated that the area celebrates the power of community, which brings local craftspersons and creators together. The statement states, “While in Johannesburg today. The Duchess of Sussex visited Victoria Yards, which celebrates the power of community, bringing local artisans and “makers” together to rebuild, support and learn from one another on a holistic level.”
The Duchess was said to have been quite happy to get Archie’s gift from the designer. She was also amazed by the designer who explained the reason for his crown symbol. “The crown on my jeans represents the three ladies who raised me,” the local designer told the Duchess of Sussex according to the royal Sussex Instagram page.
