A metro cop from Ekurhuleni who was recorded being allegedly drunk while on duty is suspended. The news was announced by the mayor of Ekurhuleni, Mzwandile Masina on Wednesday. The police officer was suspended along with his supervisor.
Mzwandile Masina stated that the two metro police officials were suspended by the Chief of Police, General Isaac Mapiyeye. “Thank you Chief of Police, General Mapeyeye after following due processes, has decided to suspend both the drunk Metro Officer and his Supervisor after considering other factors. I urge the public to give them space to conclude on this matter. Metro will give further details,” says Ekurhuleni mayor Mzwandile Masina. The video recording made rounds on the internet.
In the video the police officer gave one of his members the gun that he had. It was reported that the metro police officer almost impacted with a biker, it was also added that he threatened to shoot the person that was recording the video. The man argued with the people on whether he was tested for his alcohol levels. According to the person recording the video, the other metro police officials failed to give them the readings of the metro police officer who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
