Twitter Shuts Down Several Fake News Accounts Around The Globe. Twitter announced on Friday that it has deactivated numerous Twitter accounts around the globe for expanding fake news, including propaganda that is for the government.

Twitter announced on Friday that it has deactivated numerous Twitter accounts around the globe for expanding fake news, including propaganda that is for the government. The social media platform has deactivated accounts in countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Spain and China. Twitter accounts from China that wanted to spread conflict between demonstrators in Hin Kong were deactivated.

According to reports, Twitter also shut down accounts that were intensifying a pro-Saudi message from the United Arab Emirates and Egypt pointed towards Yemen and Qatar. Accounts from the Ecuador and Spain were also deactivated. The announcement of the details is a form of the organisation trying to increase knowledge of how actors of nations used the social media platform to influence the opinions of publics.

The organisation reportedly says that they have found 4 302 Twitter accounts that were from China trying to spread conflict about the demonstration in Hong Kong. This is after it was revealed that there were 200 000 false accounts from China that got involved in charging societal conflict in Hong Kong. Facebook has also revealed that it has deactivated fake accounts that were from the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Saudi Arabia, last month, that shared misleading details regarding places such as Yemen, Libya and sudan.
