Claire Mawisa Says Public Broadcaster Should Show Promos Of Missing Persons Like They Used To. A large number of people have been reported missing in South Africa within a month and the progress of finding the missing persons has been slow, with some of them found too late.

A large number of people have been reported missing in South Africa within a month and the progress of finding the missing persons has been slow, with some of them found too late. Media personality and Carte Blanche presenter Claire Mawisa thinks that broadcasting the images of missing person’s during prime time might assist in retrieving them quickly. This was due to the high amounts of recent reports of missing children and women. She went on to reminisce about the time when she was a continuity presenter on SABC 1.

She says that the channel would broadcast promos of missing persons during prime time, which helped largely. “In the olden days when I was a continuity presenter for SABC 1, we would often shoot promos featuring names and photos of missing persons. Because the promo aired daily during prime time, it was a phenomenal success in creating awareness about people who were missing ,” says Claire Mawisa.

She went on to say that social media on its own cannot help in finding missing persons. “Social media solely cant fulfil the function of creating awareness around missing persons in the country. We see several tweets every single day about another child or womanwho has disappeared. Even us concerned people get fatigue,” says the media personality. Claire Mawisa says the promo would need to be refreshed often in order to update people on the progress of the missing persons. “guys! That promo would need to be refreshed often because people were being found! Even off of fuzzy, old, black & white photos,” says the media personality.
