As the house of Luyanda Botha was being burnt down, a shallow grave was found at the backyard of the house. It was found out that the remains of that were found in the grave were that of the late Uyinene Mrwetyana. A City of Cape Town representative was the one who confirmed that the remains were that of the University Of Cape Town student.
“I was also called by the community, having seen police vans standing here, digging out the remains of her body. And the committee asked me to come and witness that…So I can confirm that some of the remains were decked out of this yard,” says the City of Cape Town representative. The University of Cape Town student was reported as missing two weeks back on a Saturday. At the time when she was reported as missing, her last location was the post office when she went to go enquire about a parcel of hers.
The student was then discovered to have been sexually assaulted and murdered. The person accused of allegedly sexually assaulting her and murdering her, Luyanda Botha, was due for his first time in court on Monday. The sexual assault case has sparked the pride in some women to oust their alleged sexual assault perpertrators.
