Mzansi Praises The First Female Combat Pilot Who Flew Past Loftus Stadium. She flew past the stadium during the inauguration of the new South African president, President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Major Mandisa Nomcebo Mfeka is the first woman that has flown past the Loftus Versfeld stadium as a combat pilot. She flew past the stadium during the inauguration of the new South African president, President Cyril Ramaphosa. Mzansi was proud to see the first female combat pilot fly past the stadium.

The major got into the South African Air Force in 2008. She applied at the Central Flying School in Langebaan at the Western Cape in 2010. She got the honour of being a pilot in 2011. She received a lot of love from the people in Mzansi for breaking the gender stereotypes of flying.

The amazing woman was born at Ntuzuma in KwaZulu-Natal. She says that she knew that she loved flying at the age of 5-years-old. She also says that her mother and grandma would take her and her siblings to air shows at the Virginia Airport when she was young.

“The first time I realised I could join the SAAF and become a pilot was when I was 16. I was doing research about careers in maths and science and I remember coming across an article by the SAAF.” She realised from that moment on that she wanted to be part of the South African National Defence Force through being a pilot for the South African Air Force.

One social media user called her a “mbokoto” which roughly translates to a rock. One social media user says, “I’m so proud of her.” One social media user says, “she did well.” One social media user says, “This is great for our country and the women at large.” However, one user stressed about the national risk that the publicising of the female may cause to the country.
