A video recording of a person working on the road being hit by a metallic green Toyota Avanca has surfaced on the internet. The incident happened in the Western Cape.

Netwerk24 states that the male, Xolele Phindela, and one other male were standing in the centre of a highway by the N2 next to Grabouw, Western Cape. The metallic green Toyota Avanza hit the male when it was trying to dangerously overtake a truck. It tossed the male upwards. The male was spinning in the air for a few seconds till he landed on the road.

The dashcam video shows the driver of the metallic green Toyota Avanza approaching from the right hand side of where the video was taken. The video was caught by the dashcam of Lyndon de Meillon’s vehicle. Xolele was taken to the nearest hospital. He is currently released even though he has severe injuries.

The case has been sent to the police but it hasn’t reached a consensus as of yet. Xolele cannot work since the horrifying crash that almost ended his life. The driver of the metallic green Toyota Avanza was charged with negligent and reckless driving. The examination of the case is still ongoing.

This type of incident is not good for the Department of Road Safety in South Africa since the horrific accidents that happened during the holiday seasons. Too much acceleration and driving while drunk were the top reasons to why accidents and the demise of people rised by 7%.
