A 74-year-old woman has reportedly made history. Errammati Mangayamma has reportedly made history by giving birth to twins at the age of 74. The twins are both baby girls. She conceived the two babies through in-vitro fertilisation.
She delivered the babies through caesarean section. The 74-year-old woman says that their prayers have been answered. “I am very happy, God has answered our prayers,” says Erramatti Mangayamma. The 74-year-old told the Times of India that not being able to have babies has had a huge toll on her during all the years. She went on to say that people would look at her as if she had committed a sin. “People looked at me with accusing eyes as if I had committed a sin, neighbours would call me [a curse word for a woman with no child],” says Errammati Mangayamma.
She and her husband have been trying to have children for a while in their 54 years marriage. The 74-year-old mother and her children are both in good condition. According to the ‘Guiness World Records’, Carmela Bousada is the woman who holds the record for the ‘Oldest person to give birth’. The mother from Spain gave birth to her twin boys in 2006 at the age of 66-years-old. She also conceived the twins through in-vitro fertilisation. She passed away in 2009 after she suffered from cancer.
